Rodney Jerkins: ‘Lady Gaga Is the Next Michael Jackson’ – Lady Gaga is the talk of the town these days and has everyone “gooing and gaaing” over her weird sense of style, mystique persona and infectious pop lyrics. And it’s not just fans, even industry peers like Rodney Jerkins is amazed at the singer’s talent, comparing her to the late King of Pop.
The legendary hitmaker has likened Lady Gaga to Michael Jackson – insisting the eccentric singer has the potential to build a career to rival the late music icon. Jerkins worked with the late superstar on his final studio album, 2001’s Invincible, and produced Gaga’s latest hit single “Telephone.”
He admits being extremely impressed with the “Poker Face” songstress, because she is fearless and one of a kind, and will make a huge mark in music history such as MJ.
“We haven’t seen an artist like Gaga in a long time – we haven’t seen an artist that really has no fear. I remember Michael Jackson used to tell me he was crucified for doing Thriller, but he had to do what he felt was needed at that time. I’m just happy to be part of history,” he tells People.com “I’ve always wanted to leave my stamp on music, and to be able to say that I worked with Michael Jackson and now I’m working with Lady Gaga, who’ll probably go down in history as one of the best female entertainers of all time.”
Jerkins’ praise comes just a day after Gaga became the first artist to hit more than one billion views on YouTube.com, thanks to her promos for “Poker Face,” “Just Dance” and “Bad Romance,” according to PR-Inside.com.
