LuAnn de Lesseps (born May 17, 1965), is best known for her appearances on the reality television show The Real Housewives of New York City. She is often referred to as “The Countess” on the show as a result of her previous marriage to French count Alexandre de Lesseps, a descendant of Ferdinand de Lesseps, the architect of the Suez Canal.

Lesseps’ divorce from her husband, Alexandre de Lesseps, was finalized at the end of 2009, although she has said she plans to continue referring to herself by her married name and title. The couple have two children, Victoria and Noel.
She is fluent in French and Italian.
She stated on several episodes of The Real Housewives of New York City that she is of Native American descent.[1] Her father is of Algonquin descent and her mother is of French descent.[2]

Lesseps was a former nurse from Connecticut,[3] as well as a model in Milan [4].

She is the author of Class With the Countess.
She released her first single, “Money Can’t Buy You Class” as Luann Countess, on April 28th, 2010.
