Nas puts a mission behind the naming of his brand new album. The rapper intentionally called his album ‘Nigger,’ to tone down the meaning of the word in relation to racist remark.
“I wanna make the word easy on muthafuckas’ ears. You see how white boys ain’t mad at ‘cracker’ cause it don’t have the same (pick up) as ‘nigger’? I want ‘nigger’ to have less meaning (than) ‘cracker’,” Nas explained.
The decision was eventually supported by Def Jam Recordings and its chairman Anthony “L.A.” Reid. Reid who previously denied having the album under the label’s schedule now said that he “completely stand beside him (Nas)”.
‘Nigger’, that was initially named ‘Nigga’, sports collaboration from P. Diddy, Jermaine Dupri, DJ Troomp, and Salaam Remi. According to Nas, it will be dropped on December 11 with the first single scheduled to hit the airwaves early November.
