Despite dropping out of high school, the lyricist has had a successful career spanning 19 years and boasts an impressive resume with 9 solo LPs, four which are #1 albums, and all certified gold or platinum.
The divorced father is still doing what he does best, as the tracklist for Nas and Damian Marley’s highly anticipated album “Distant Relatives” was recently revealed. Fans can expect to hear Lil’ Wayne, K’Naan, Junior Reid, Dennis Brown and Joss Stone when the project is released on May 25.
In other news, last month Drake named Nas as one of his biggest influences, for his upcoming Thank Me Later album.
It’s gonna be bigger, it’s gonna sound happier,” Drake said, comparing it to his So Far Gone mixtape. “Yeah, it’s gonna sound bigger, it’s gonna sound victorious because that’s where I am in my life. I really studied Nas to be honest. Nas was like somebody that I used to listen to his raps and not really understand how he did it,” explained Drake. I always wanted to understand how he painted those pictures and his bar structure and all of that.”
