Janet Jackson Blackglama Fur Campaign Slammed by PETA – Janet Jackson is the face of a new campaign for a fur company. She will likely come under fire for backing the company from animal interests groups, but that doesn’t seem to be stopping Jackson from doing what she wants. She will be working with the company as a model and will be the biggest star for their new campaign.
The fur label, Blackglama, has been one of the most popular fur companies over the course of the last four decades. The company said that they were happy to have Jackson on board and were looking for more ways to incorporate her in the campaign.
“Janet is an icon in the world of music and entertainment, a true legend,” Blackglama CEO Joe Morelli told People magazine. “She represents everything that this storied campaign embodies. Janet is to entertainment what Blackglama is to luxury.”
There is no arguing that she does look great in the campaign. But is it worth coming under fire from PETA in order to appear in the ad. They regularly challenge stars who wear fur to campaign against the killing of animals, and have been known to take it as far as making threats against those who wear fur.
It will be interesting to see how the organization handles the matter, and whether or not they decide to speak out against Janet Jackson.

PETA Senior Vice President Dan Matthews has published an open letter blasting Jackson who was once anti-fur: “You told me that you were always aggravated at photo shoots when stylists would try to throw fur on you and that you were even wary of wearing fake fur out of concern that it might actually be real or look real in photos and send the wrong message. You were very straightforward and sensible about it. What happened?”
Another PETA spokeswoman, Amanda Schinke, added, “It’s amazing what celebrities will do when their careers are on a downslide, but we didn’t think that Janet was this desperate.”

There should be a boycott for PETA to retract their comments on Janet Jackson as she never said nothing about Peta I know they value lives of animals more than human lives. We need to write, emails, blogs, and call for retraction and a apology for Janet jackson. They didn’t slam Blackglama’s other legends (majority being white) they had involed in the past with that signature campaign I find it horrible. I’ve never heared of Blackglama furs before this. So thanks Janet for that. But also Janet being number one on Itunes for a single performance on the the number 1 rated show AMERICAN IDOL. I really don’t think this has anything to do with race as you have suggested. The fact remains that a variety of animals- dogs and cats included- are skinned alive in the most horrific manner to produce an obsolete piece of clothing that we can do without. I LOVE Janet Jackson and hope that she reconsiders this move. Why are people so afraid to be just a little bit more humane?

PETA needs to go away. I will take them seriously when they start helping humans in distress. They have no right to dictate that anyone conforms to their beliefs about fur. They need to get over themselves. BOYCOTT PETA!

Black people are the most racially consciences & racist people on the planet, and ANYONE who travels the world knows this to be fact. Killing innocent animals to wear their fur on ones back in NOT glamorous at all, In fact it is sad. I enjoy Miss Jackson music but when a person sales their soul for a FUR is disgusting.

Man was put here to have dominion over all animals. Animals are not meant to be on our level. And umm, hi, how do you think your ancestors survived? Eating tofu and grass? Wearing bark in the winters? I don’t think so. Animals are put here to eat and wear. As long as it is not wasted there is no harm. This has been going on for centuries and working just fine. I love fur. Perhaps those who support PETA do not. But this is America and it is their right to believe what they want as it is my right to believe what I want. We all have the right to wear what we want as long as we are not breaking any laws. If PETA had their way it would be a crime to eat a steak. And if a PETA loon ever got in my face or destroyed my property that I purchased with my hard earned money, it won’t be the animals safety they need to worry about.
This has ZERO to do with RACE. Period. This is a desperate ‘celebrity’ in need of some quick cash. Janet had her heyday but hasn’t released anything groundbreaking (or even good) in years and years. The reason PETA hasn’t slammed other ‘celebrities’ that have done Blackglama campaigns is because the last time this irrelevant company/product did a campaign with a celebrity PETA probably wasn’t even around! And don’t even get me started about Janet’s ‘talent’ – i’ve seen her LIVE twice and she didn’t sing a single note herself. If Janet wants to get back in gear with a singing career she needs to actually SING and not let a bunch of studio technicians create a voice for her. She doomed herself by being lazy in the studio so now she’s desperate enough to have to take a ‘job’ that will further taint her image and name…its shameful and sad.
