Eminem Recovery Album To Sell 750,000 Copies in First Week

Eminem is the same heavy hitter that he has been throughout his career, judging by his first week sales for his new album, “Recovery.” The album is on pace to bring in more sales than most experts predicted prior to the release of the CD. Eminem has appeared on a number of high-profile television shows in preparation for the album, and has been relentlessly promoting it with free concerts and magazine interviews. The original estimate said that Eminem would sell 600,000 copies of his album. It now appears that he will sell around 750,000 copies of the CD in its first week.
That makes the album the biggest debut of 2010 in the United States. The week before, Drake released his debut album, selling over 450,000 copies. At the time, that was heralded as one of the biggest debuts of the year. The number comes nowhere close to Eminem’s huge number of copies sold.
The album was also the biggest debut in the UK, where it sold more than 140,000 copies. Drake saw a 66% fall in his second week on the charts. Miley Cyrus’ first week sales for her album, “Can’t Be Tamed,” came in at 125,000. She was expected to sell much more, but debuting the same week as Eminem can make it hard for musicians to live up to their predicted amount.
Eminem’s single from his album, “Not Afraid,” has performed very well on the charts and rose to the number one position very quickly after the video for the song debuted.
