Beyonce has sparked reports she is planning a move to boyfriend Shawn ‘Jay-Z’ Carter’s Def Jam label, so that he can help to “oversee” her career. Beyonce is currently signed to Sony’s Columbia imprint, but with her contract due to expire after her next two albums, Knowles is reportedly looking to make a move to Island Def Jam so she can team up with Carter in a professional capacity. But the insider warns that Sony will not let Knowles go without a fight, adding, “Sony has had a bad year - all the hit acts, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera and the ‘American Idol’ kids, are all on BMG. “They can’t afford to lose Beyonce. Today on the Oprah Winphrey show, Grammy award winning artist (and my fellow Chicago-nite lol) Common as well as two of hip-hop’s most prominent moguls Kevin Liles and Russell Simmons made a guest appearance to respond to the Imus controversy as well as discuss the state of the hip-hop industry…I am so glad that they are responding to this mess…Not only because of Imus’ statement (which I still find hilarious), but also because the media has encouraged and propelled the use of stereotypes in our society…And the art and industry of hip-hop is where the media depict these African-American stereotypes.
